Eyebrows were shaped natural, but stray hairs were tweezed to have clean arches. Like in today's fashion world, false lashes and mascara were used. Eyeshadow was more of nude and grey hues. Nails were worn short to mid-length.

One of the carefully crafted hairstyles of the forties is the "Victory Roll" aka the "Side Reverse Roll", named after a combat air maneuver. To set hair women used either rollers or pinned curls at night, and then slept on them to produce curls in the morning. When the rollers or pins came out, hair was given a minimum of brushing, not to remove the curls but make them softer towards the ends. Hair near the crown was sectioned on each side and pinned up, off the face.

Back seam hosiery was more likely to be in rayon fabric, since real silk went toward use in parachutes for troops.

This site offers cuteness for the curvy lady as well as skinny minnies. Of course the style is retro, vintage, and rockabilly. This look is from a while back (when she was just getting into this style) and I'm still in love with it. The location: Paris, outside of hotel. I just love the well put together but effortlessly chic look that almost everyone can achieve. For the fall season I would pair some thick wool leggings or stockings with a nice design and a nice blazer with this outfit. Top it off with a fedora hat or even one of those straw fedora hats.

TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!

WoW! I'm 24 years old. Happy birthday to myself! I'm so fighting the quarter life crisis. All week long I was sorta kinda "okay", then last night I had a mini melt-down, not good. I will force myself to go through with what I'd already planned with a smile on my face anyway though. I will be having dinner with family and friends at Caleco's Bar & Grill and after that I will at least delight in my daughter running around and playing in the water at the Citygarden with her cousins. The only thing that will be missing is my other honey bun...(sigh). He has to work so can't knock him for it, especially when I come up with plans last minute and expect it to work out. Oh, how I so wanted to model that red and black lace lingerie in front of him for later though!

My whole weekend is pretty much booked. Tomorrow I will be going to one of my old school friend's 23rd Birthday Bash at the Loft. At least I can look forward to wearing my red, black, and camel colored retro-kitschy attire. I say kitschy because I'm wearing just a little bit of leopard print on this sheer flowing cascade vest and kitten heel shiny red pumps with black soles.
