I Am Lucky To Have This Bunny!
I got this handmade pink bunny hat from one of the booths at the farmers market. I guess I was in a bunny type of mood that day! |
Amel Larrieux- Lucky To Be Me
What a day
Fortune smiled and came my way
Bringing love I never thought I'd see
I'm so lucky to be me
What a night
Suddenly you came in sight
Looking just the way I'd hoped you'd be
I'm so lucky to be me
I am simply thunderstruck
With this change in my luck
Knew at once I wanted you
Never thought you'd want me too
I'm so proud
You chose me from all the crowd
There's no other girl I'd rather be
I could laugh out loud
I could laugh out loud
I'm so lucky to be.. me

On A Great Note: Congrats To My Uncle!
Tonight my Uncle on my Mother's side of the family chose to get baptized! Hey, "better late than never", right? When I got baptized on Mother's Day of this year, it was like I had to finally do it on my own or I just wouldn't ever do it after that moment. I had been contemplating over it for years before that point! The funny thing is that right after I got baptized, the dreadful gray clouds and rain let up and gave way to a beautiful warm sunny day. LOL My first thought was from the book of Matthew 3:13-17, when heaven opened and God said He is pleased with His Son.
Some people just come to the light slower than others. They make themselves have to go through "the fire of suffering that brings forth the gold of Godliness." ~Madame Guyon. Being baptized definitely does not mean you won't go through any troubles from here on out on earth. The Lord Himself had troubles and temptations, what makes you think you won't? See 1 Peter 4:12-19. I think the suffering gets worse or more intense in some ways actually. Think of it as you're right along with Jesus in the desert being tempted right after being baptized. Indeed, we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory (Romans 8:17). My minister was so right when he told me afterwards, "Now the easy part is over". You'll look back and wonder why'd it take you so long to get baptized when that's the easier part of God's whole plan.
I am acknowledging that I believe in the Lord and all of His strength and mercy. I believe that Jesus is the Son of God. I'm taking on more spiritual responsibility with my outward and inward actions. When you're trying to do the right things and succeeding, that scoundrel of a devil presses harder to get you. See Galatians 6:9. I take it as a compliment that I'm doing something right and the devil can't take it. When that one thing that was bothering you goes away because you've conquered it, something else troubling pops up. Thank goodness, I realize that the hardships are there to help you grow. God's goal is not to completely break you. See 1 Corinthians 10:13. If you are doing something wrong, the Lord does discipline those He loves. Like a father to His children. See Hebrews 12:4-7. I don't know about you, but I'd rather keep getting disciplined real fast here on earth then for an eternity in hell.
Prayer is very important. Always keep communication with the Lord open. Be sure to praise Him before asking for what you want, even through the rough times. How would you like it if you helped people EVERYDAY, ALL DAY, then someone else is asking for stuff without a simple heart-felt thank you? See Ephesians 1:15-23, and 2 Thessalonians 5:16.
1 Peter is a great book in the Bible to read. I highly suggest reading The Purpose Driven Life: What On Earth Am I Here For? by Rick Warren as a great Bible study guide.

Do The Potty Dance!
Since I have a two year old it's definitely been time to introduce the potty! I actually have one of the free potty training DVD's from Huggies brand. One sure sign of readiness is when your tot starts taking their diaper off and attempting to run around the house commando! Thank goodness I stopped that in it's tracks. Another sign is when your tot can understand that the bathroom is where the potty is located.
At the RetroFlirt residence yesterday the Safety 1st Potty Seat was introduced:
It even has the "flushing" sound effect and you can record a quick praise such as: "good job" or "YAY!" with your own voice to your child |
Naturally after introducing this to my child she oohed and aahed over the sheer excitement of a new item that's all hers. I even let her sit on it commando for the first time yesterday, but it ended up still being an empty pot. Of course, what happend ten seconds after I put the diaper back on...she soils the diaper! I couldn't be mad at her. That really was to be expected. I already know that I don't want to put pressure on her and give her a negative feel for the potty seat. Now today she keeps trying to drag it with her like it's a toy babydoll that she can take everywhere with her!
Are you going through the potty training stage with your minnie me too? Have you already been over and through with this stage? How long did it take your tot to get the hang of it?

ALL ABOARD!
When my Grandmother gifted to me a pink train case with light blue interior at the age of nine, the admiration and obsession of vintage train cases began! I would use it as a bed for baby dolls or put my sewing materials into the case. Yes, at age nine I was already sewing and making doll clothes with my older cousin. My Grandmother also gave my cousin a train case at the same time, which was the same burnt orange color as the She & Him album cover art (Volume Two album) with a blue interior. Til this day I still have the first one I ever had. However, now it just carries an Besame Cosmetics catalougue and a picture of my daughter.

Share The Love!
Here at RetroFlirt, I sure do use the word love alot, but nothing is wrong with that! Who doesn't need some love from someone or somewhere in their life? I would like to take a moment and just openly rejoice and be grateful. I've always known there are greater things in life than just worldly things. I'm happy and blessed to have my wonderful daughter and to have my home. I'm glad I got to see that my faith is stronger. Not once did I doubt or question God. He has his reasons and who am I to question Him? That's not my place. Sure I was stressed, but who wouldn't be? It wasn't enough stress to make me just give up though! In my mind I said, "We would be okay no matter what, as long as we have each other". Luke 12:22-34, comes to my mind right now.

What Me and Daughter Did Today
We made an alien cap! Of course, I took a zillion photos which could be used to embarrass her later on in life! I just shaped aluminum foil around a bowl and used tape as needed, then made a strap around the bottom so it can stay on but loose enough to still be comfortable.
Look it even has embellishments on it. |
Something goofy to do on a nice day outside. |
