Once A Cardinal Always A Cardinal
Rest in peace Bob Forsch. The former Cardinals pitcher passed away today from an heart attack. He's known in Cardinal Nation for throwing multiple no hitters. He pitched for the Cardinals in 1982, 1985, and 1987. The year 1982 was another World Series win for the Cards. He was a teammate with Ozzie Smith. In Ozzie Smith's own words: "Bob Forsch was a fierce competitor and a great teammate. Bob was one of the finest men I had the pleasure to play with and my deep condolences go to his children and family. Heaven just got a starting pitcher." He was only 61 years old and leaves behind a wife and two daughters. In his career he's had 1,133 strikeouts, a 3.76 ERA and a .533 winning percentage. Seems like only just yesterday Mr. Forsch was out throwing the first pitch during game 7 of the 2011 World Series at Busch Stadium.
